Successful Technological Transfer: The REpower 5M Offshore Wind Power Plant

The REpower 5M adds a new dimension to the approved REpower technology. With its nominal power of 5.075 megawatts and a rotor diameter of 126 meters this offshore wind power plant is one of the most powerful multimegawatt wind turbines in the world. But that is not all: its high number of full load hours and groundbreaking details, e.g. a water-cooled power converter have set new innovative standards for the whole wind energy market.

Built for Offshore and Onshore Performance

Its modular design and high usability make the REpower 5M suitable for both offshore wind farms and onshore use. To meet the special demands of offshore use, the individual components of the wind turbine feature a redundant design. The efficient use of six 5M wind power plants each in the alpha ventus and Thornton Bank Phase 1 wind farms has been demonstrates the reliability of the 5M.

Optimal Grid Compliance, Permanently Monitored

REpower wind turbines have always been setting standards in grid compliance. Therefore, the 5M offshore wind power plant can easily be integrated in every grid as a full power plant. The permanent monitoring of our wind turbines ensures high availability and optimal profits – onshore and offshore.
