The Bundesverband WindEnergie e.V. (BWE) and the trade association VDMA Power Systems presented the export figures 2009 of the German wind industry and the installation figures in the first half of 2010 in Germany.
Sales of the German wind energy manufacturers were 17.5% of worldwide turnover – with an export quota of 75%. This was a signal for the worldwide demand of “Made in Germany”, said Thorsten Herdan, Managing Director of VDMA Power Systems. REpower Systems too generates the majority of its turnover in foreign markets.
With 332 turbines and almost 660 megawatts national installations had to record a decrease during the first half of 2010 compared to the previous year. As one of the reasons the BWE stated the harsh winter which led to the postponement of several installations.
